One of a series of prints inspired by the British countryside, Rabbit under the Moon depicts a wild rabbit moving through the fields under a clear night sky. The print captures the stillness and simplicity of rural landscapes — a familiar scene for anyone who walks the the paths alongside hedgerows, fields and woods at dusk.
Each piece is hand-printed using the traditional collagraph process, creating rich texture and depth that reflect the natural forms of earth and furrow. Printed on Somerset 300gsm cotton rag paper with professional oil-based inks, this fine-art edition is designed to last for generations.
This is a limited edition of 20 prints, individually signed and numbered by the artist.
In the collagraph technique, materials such as paper, tape, and fabric are adhered to a printing plate. For this specific print, carborundum—a coarse powder—is also employed to create the dark areas. The final plate is then inked and printed using an etching press.
Image size 25cm x 17cm, paper size 31cm x 24cm) pictured in an A3 frame with a thick 3.5 mm mount.
The print is supplied in three options:
- Unframed in a cellophane wallet and protective card backing
- Unframed with an A3 soft white acid free mount
- Framed and mounted as pictured in the product photograph
Frames are high quality wooden, glass fronted photo/art frames with a smooth black finish. The mount board is 3.5 mm thick in soft white with a cut out that allows the title, edition details and signature to be seen. The mount board is acid free to protect the artwork and to prevent discoloration.
NOTE: The nature of the collagraph printing process ensures that each print is inherently unique. Variations in tone and textural details arise from the intaglio technique used to ink and wipe the plate, resulting in subtle differences between prints. Consequently, individual prints in the edition may differ slightly from the product description image.
